Refund Policy

California Equestrian Association (CEA) Return and Refund Policy Effective Date: March 1, 2026

Last Updated: March 1, 2026

The California Equestrian Association (“CEA,” “we,” or “us”) is committed to transparency and fairness in all transactions. This Return and Refund Policy applies to all purchases and payments made through our website (ceainc.org), event registration systems, or other channels. It covers our primary offerings: memberships, event/seminar registrations (including Youth Riding Academy enrollments and competitive entries), and donations. CEA does not currently sell physical merchandise through our online store, but if we do in the future, separate terms will apply and will be posted conspicuously.

This policy is designed to comply with all applicable California and federal laws, including:

  • California Civil Code § 1723 (clear disclosure of return policies for retail sales).

  • California Business and Professions Code §§ 22507–22509 (mandatory refunds for canceled, postponed, or rescheduled events).

  • Federal Trade Commission mail-order and online sales rules.

  • Implied warranties under the Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act (to the extent any tangible goods are ever sold).

We do not offer returns or refunds beyond what is stated here unless required by law. All policies are clearly posted on our website prior to purchase. By completing a purchase or registration, you agree to this policy.

1. Memberships
Membership provides access to member-only events, resources, seminars, and community benefits.

  • Refund Window: You may request a full refund (minus a $15 administrative processing fee) within 30 calendar days of payment, provided no membership benefits have been used (e.g., you have not attended any member-only event, accessed premium resources, or entered any CEA-sanctioned competition as a member).

  • After 30 Days or Use of Benefits: Memberships are non-refundable.

  • Prorated Refunds: Not available. Memberships run for a fixed term (typically one year) and are non-transferable.

  • How to Request: Emai info@ceainc.org with your membership number and reason. Refunds (if approved) are processed to the original payment method within 10–14 business days.

2. Event Registrations, Seminar Enrollments, Competitive Entries, and any fundraising events

This includes all fees for competitions, seminars, clinics, Youth Riding programs, and related registrations.

  • Before Registration Closing Date: Full refund minus a $25 non-refundable administrative/processing fee if requested in writing at least 72 hours before the published closing date.

  • After Registration Closing Date: No refunds unless:

    • The event is canceled or postponed by CEA, in which case a full refund (no fees withheld) will be issued within 30 calendar days of the cancellation announcement, as required by California Business & Professions Code § 22507.

    • The event is rescheduled or replaced, in which case you may request a full refund within 30 days of the announcement (or keep your registration for the new date).

    • Your spot is filled from the waitlist (at CEA’s discretion; full or partial refund may be issued).

  • Health, Safety, or Emergency Exceptions: At CEA’s sole discretion, we may issue a partial refund (minus fees) with written documentation (e.g., veterinarian certificate for horse-related issues or medical note for rider). Requests must be made before the event begins.

  • How to Request: Submit requests in writing to info@ceainc.org with your confirmation number. We respond within 5–7 business days. Refunds are processed to the original payment method within 10–14 business days after approval.

Important Legal Note: If an event is canceled, postponed, or rescheduled for any reason, California law entitles you to a full refund upon request. This policy will always honor and exceed those legal requirements.

3. Donations
All donations (one-time or recurring) are non-refundable. Donations are voluntary charitable contributions to support CEA’s mission (equine education, competitions, advocacy, and rescue). Refunds are not issued except in cases of duplicate or erroneous charges (processed within 7 business days). If a donation was made in error, contact info@ceainc.org immediately.

4. Merchandise
All merchandise items are purchased on a special order basis and are non-refundable.

General Terms That Apply to All Transactions

  • Processing Time: Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method within 10–14 business days. Credit card refunds may take an additional 5–10 business days to appear on your statement.

  • Non-Transferable: Registrations and memberships cannot be transferred to another person or event.

  • Chargebacks: Initiating a chargeback instead of following this policy may result in denial of future registrations and possible legal action for recovery of fees.

  • Changes to Policy: CEA may update this policy at any time. The version posted on ceainc.org at the time of your purchase governs that transaction.

  • Questions or Disputes: Contact us at info@ceainc.org or (phone number listed on site). We will respond within 5 business days. Unresolved issues may be addressed under California consumer protection laws.

This policy ensures full compliance with California law while reflecting standard practices in the equestrian community. If you have any questions before purchasing, please reach out—we’re happy to clarify.

Thank you for supporting the California Equestrian Association and our shared passion for equine excellence!
